Chatwin) è un giovane studente del college che aspira a diventare un poeta, ma si sente invisibile per la ricchissima madre (Marcia Gay Harden) e per i compagni, salvo il suo amico Pete (Chris Marquette). Pensando di averlo ucciso, gettano il corpo in un bosco e scappano. Al suo risveglio, Nick rimane sospeso tra il mondo reale e quello extra-terreno: inizialmente confuso, si rende poi conto d'essere invisibile agli occhi di tutti, e da quel momento cerca di attirare l'attenzione, in particolar modo quella di Annie. Più la osserva, più si rende conto che non è del tutto una cattiva persona, ma il suo fato dipende da quanto lei deciderà di fare la cosa giusta, portando la polizia sul luogo dell'aggressione.".
